Unwanted hair on the face and body requires time, energy, and money to remove regularly with shaving, depilatory creams, waxing and plucking. Over the years, this can add up! Fortunately, permanent laser hair removal options are available to patients in and around Richmond, Virginia, at Cassie Lane Aesthetics. For women and men, this treatment can take care of unwanted hair once and for all, leaving behind smooth, hair-free skin!
What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal involves using a laser to target and damage the unwanted hair follicles, preventing future hair growth. The procedure is done by trained professionals and the settings are adjusted to suit different skin tones and types.
What are the many benefits of laser hair removal with Cassie Lane Aesthetics?
Laser hair removal offers several specific advantages over traditional methods of hair removal. This treatment:
- Is precise and targeted, meaning only the unwanted hair in the area is affected without damaging any surrounding skin.
- Can be used on larger areas of the body, making it a faster and more efficient way to remove unwanted hair.
- Many patients experience permanent hair reduction after several treatments, making the results long-lasting.
- Is practically painless and requires no downtime or recovery time, allowing our patients to resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.
- Can be customized to suit different hair and skin types, ensuring it is suitable for a wide range of patients.
What can I expect during my laser hair removal process?
During your initial consultation with our team, we will discuss your goals and expectations for the treatment. We will also examine your skin and hair to determine the best approach for your needs and decide if you are a good candidate for treatment.
On the day of your laser hair treatment, we clean and prep the area being treated and apply a cooling gel or ice pack to minimize discomfort. The laser will then be used to target and damage hair follicles in the desired area. Multiple sessions will likely be required for our patients to achieve optimal results.
Is laser hair removal safe?
When the laser device is used by a skilled and trained professional, patients rest easy knowing they are in trusted hands! Treatment is safe and effective, making it a popular service at our Richmond, Virginia office.
What packages are available and what are their costs?
All treatments include free touch-up treatments if needed. Multiple packages can be purchased.
*I would not include the piece about touch ups until we has this out again. We originally said we would include 1-2 free touch up following the series of 6 and then go into 50% off for touch ups after this. We may want to rethink our packages and do packages of 8, with 1 free touch up and then 50% off all future. Free touch ups for life is a slippery slope. We will also want to mention on here that touch up discounts are only for the areas previously purchased and do not apply to single sessions of other areas.

What is different about Laser Hair Removal at Cassie Lane Aesthetics versus other options?
The most obvious answer is that we have top-of-the-line, painless laser hair removal technology that is not widely available. Beyond that, the knowledge and care of our team are unmatched.
What should I do before my appointment?
- Six weeks prior. Do not use Nair, pluck, wax, tweeze or thread six weeks before your first treatment or between treatments. These treatments remove the hair from the follicle, making the laser hair removal treatments ineffective
- Four weeks prior. It is imperative that you avoid extended sun exposure, tanning beds, and sunless tanners for four weeks before your treatment. This is a must, and no exceptions will be made. The laser works by targeting the pigment in your hair and can become confused when there is an increase in pigment in the skin. The presence of a tan, including a sunless tanner, can lead to burns and scarring. Be sure you protect your skin from the sun daily with SPF 45+. No invasive treatments to the treatment area within four weeks of your treatment (tattooing, microneedling, chemical peels, etc.)
- One week prior. Stop retinol, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid seven days before treatment (if used in the targeted treatment area.)
- 24 hours prior. Shave the area NO SOONER than 24 hours before treatment. If the hairs are too long, the energy of the laser can be lost, making the treatment less effective. If the hairs are too short that they are not visible, it will make it difficult for our providers to accurately assess the hair texture and color for appropriate treatment settings. Inform our providers if you have taken Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past six months. Inform our providers if you have taken antibiotics in the last two weeks.
What should I do after my treatment?
- Expect your skin to appear pink for a few hours after treatment, resembling a mild sunburn.
- Avoid activities that will trap heat in the area for a minimum of 24 hours. This includes but is not limited to exercise, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers
- Use mild cleansers and moisturizers
- Avoid harsh topical products such as retinol, salicylic acid and glycolic acid for five days (in the treatment area)
- Avoid direct sunlight on the treatment area and use a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 45+ for at least four weeks after your treatment. Failure to protect the treatment area from the sun can lead to inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
What should I expect after my treatment?
- You may experience some swelling of the follicle. This looks like small bumps in the treatment area and is a normal response
- A conservative amount of hair will be eliminated with each treatment (typically 10-20% reduction,) which is why a series of treatments is necessary. This is due to the fact that hairs grow in phases, and we cannot be sure which hairs are in which phase at a given time.
- It will take a minimum of 6 treatments to achieve 85-95% hair reduction in the treatment area. Expect a few additional treatments if you have a diagnosis of PCOS, or other hormonal conditions, or very fine, resistant hairs.
- Maintenance will likely be required over time. We can reduce the hair you have but cannot stop the process of new hair creation. Hormones largely influence new hair growth, so you may see shifts if you start or stop hormone treatments, including birth control, and after pregnancy. The frequency of touch-up treatments will vary.
- Hyperpigmentation (darkening skin color) can occur in some skin types. Please call us if you experience this uncommon reaction.
